About us
Balkan Intimacy and Mental Health Coordinators is an association founded in Belgrade in 2025, with the aim of improving the conditions for filming intimate and psychologically sensitive scenes in film and television. This union of professionals (under the administrative name Psihoresurs – Resilience Initiative) was launched at the initiative of the TAUS association, with support from the Serbian Actors’ Guild (GOS). In addition to providing on-set services, our team is prepared and available for all forms of consultation, market education, and collaboration that lead to raising awareness about the importance of this kind of support within the audiovisual industries.
More about the training program…
The initiative to introduce “intimacy coordinators” to the film and TV industry in Serbia and the region—professionals who support actors and directors in scenes involving sex and intimacy—was launched by actor Milan Marić, with the support of UN Women Serbia and the teaching team of the TAUS association, which specializes in postgraduate education and the promotion of ethical standards in applied psychology. The goal of initiating a training program to qualify professionals from the fields of humanities and arts to act as “intimacy coordinators” and psychological safety consultants is to ensure that both the artist and the entire team surrounding them are protected.
This postgraduate training for professionals includes
150 hours of specialized training for professionals from the humanities. The first cohort, class of 2023–2024, has successfully completed the course.
The program covers topics such as: Psychology of intimacy, safety in contact; Intimacy choreography using masks, barriers, and other techniques; Fundamentals of film production, standards of the creative industry; Advocacy, legal protocols and dispute resolution, respectful communication; Psycho-sexual safety and boundaries; Sexual harassment, recognition and prevention in the performing arts; Sensitivity to gender and cultural diversity in artistic production; First aid and mental health.
Upon completion of the course, participants gained skills in negotiating, setting, and protecting boundaries and psychological needs of actors on set, and in designing and executing intimacy choreography using masks, touch, and barriers.
The program is aligned with standards and criteria established by two relevant associations: Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), and Directors UK.
Program authors and instructors: Prof. Dr. Amra Latifić, Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Đurić, Prof. Dr. Kristina Brajović Car, Dr. Dragan Jovićević, and director Nikola Ljuca.
The program authors and supervisors of the first cohort are members of the Serbian Association of Psychotherapy Societies (SDPS), and graduates gained membership in the European Association for Transactional Analysis (EATA) and the European Association for Counselling (EAC).

She is the first expert in the region with practical on-set experience, having worked on projects of various genres and scales – from international campaigns to large feature film productions. Through her work, she contributes to the development of the profession in the regional context, striving to establish safe, clear, and creatively empowering conditions for performers, while simultaneously offering production and direction a professional structure that protects the process and ensures smooth shooting.

In addition to her on-set work, Anđela is a lecturer at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts, where she actively integrates the principles of intimacy coordination into her work with acting students. Through the education of new generations of performers, she contributes to forming a professional standard that values boundaries, trust, and emotional safety – as the foundation of every authentic and courageous artistic expression.
She believes that intimacy on screen is not just about aesthetics, but a deeply human experience that requires professional support and careful guidance. Her work is dedicated to exactly that: showing that safety and freedom of expression are not mutually exclusive, but mutually empowering.

In my work, I combine the artistic and therapeutic fields, believing that true transformation happens through story, presence, and bodily experience.
My first feature film “Vlažnost” premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, and since then I have directed the award-winning TV series “Besa” and the theater plays “Smrt i devojka” and “Laž”. I have also worked as an acting coach at the Drama Studio and as a lecturer in intimacy coordinator training programs.
In parallel, I am developing a practice in the field of psychotherapy and coaching, where I explore and support processes of personal growth, creative expression, and psychological change. I believe that art and psychotherapy share a common space: the search for meaning, authenticity, and freedom. Whether through the stage, the camera, or the therapeutic process, my work explores the ways in which personal and collective stories can become a source of growth, strength, and creative life.

Marko Marčec
Intimacy Coordinator, MH Coordinator, Psychologist
read more…
Marko Marčec is a psychologist and certified intimacy coordinator of the first generation trained by the Balkan Association for Transactional Analysis – TAUS. He has rich experience working in preschool institutions, where as a pedagogical assistant he aimed to teach children how to understand and accept peers who need additional support, using assertive communication and education on respecting others’ needs and boundaries.
Due to his great love for film, he studied screenwriting, where he learned essential skills related to cinematic expression and its interpretation. Later, one of his main interests as a psychologist became the question of creative pedagogy – whether mastering skills in artistic disciplines can be supported by specific psychological techniques that reduce inhibition and encourage creativity. This approach to artistic expression, which focuses not only on technique but also on the well-being of participants and recognition of the sensitivity of certain tasks, is what attracted him to the role of intimacy coordinator.
He has many years of experience working in television, where he returned to his original passion, gaining a broad range of knowledge in video production, including filming, archiving, and editing. He writes short stories and hopes to publish his first novel.
